The Occupation Permit (OP)

The Residence Permit for retirees (RP)

If you are 50 years old or more, you can apply for a residence permit (RP) to enjoy your retirement to the fullest in Mauritius. To do this, you must open a bank account in Mauritius and be able to justify a monthly transfer of USD 1500 into that account, which, the equivalent of USD 54,000 during the 3 years’ validity of the residence permit. After this period, you will be able to apply for a Permanent Residence Permit in Mauritius.




The Permanent Residence Permit (PRP)

This allows you to work and live in Mauritius for a period of 10 years. Whether you’re retired, an investor or an entrepreneur, if you have a valid OP, you’re eligible for a Permanent Residence Permit. When you are married, your partner can also obtain the status of resident. Same applies for your children who are under the age of 24. If you are in a relationship but not married, then your spouse is eligible for a temporary residence permit that must be renewed each year.
