Rochester Falls, in fact quite small in size, but nevertheless a local geological curiosity, are located in a woody area that lies in the midst of sugar cane fields some 2.5 km from Souillac village. Their originality comes from the pillar-shaped formation of their volcanic rock overhang interrupting the course of the Savanne River to take down its flow through a picturesque 10-metre plunge, cascading spectacularly over the pillars into the natural pool below. Sometimes, daring youngsters will show off their diving skills, jumping from the top of the rock face in exchange of a little tip from visitors.
